About my Techniques I'm not a professional photographer, but I have learned a few things over the years and I would like to share some do's and don'ts along with encourage others to take a few chances so that you to may capture moments that others think impossible. I have become more and more conscious of the quality of the final product, but I haven't forgotten the lesson that a shot not attempted is a moment that will for sure not be captured. Many of the techniques that professional photographers use are geared towards film photography. Digital photography has opened new opportunities to capture images with new and less stringent parameters. I know that much of what I say will send chills down the spine of film photographers and professional photographers. No one has to adopt my philosophy about breaking the rules, but I suggest that you should weigh the end result by a standard that is based upon the final products intended use. Most of my photos have yet to be printed. It isn't that I have no desire to print my photos, but that I have yet to have the necessity to do so. My photos have been for my own personal enjoyment, identification and to share with other wildlife enthusiast through the World Wide Web and email. Most of my photographs have only been displayed on the internet. I have taken many photos that are print quality. When I say print quality, I mean a photo that could be published in a magazine, or printed and hung for display or sale. I have taken photos of hard to find subjects in horrible light, without a flash and have received complement after complement. The complements came not because I preformed a miracle, but that I was able to capture something that the viewer could appreciate. So, I hope that those who hear my advice take it within the spirit in which it is given.
